Kevin John McCarthy

Kevin McCarthy, beloved husband, son, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on April 26, 2023. Born on May 9, 1956, Kevin leaves behind a loving family and a life filled with cherished memories. He is survived by his devoted wife, Donna McCarthy; daughters Melissa (Steven) McRory and Heather (David) Ranaudo; grandchildren Cole and Meghan McRory, and Alina Ranaudo; and brothers George (Amanda) McCarthy, Brian (MaryJane) McCarthy, and David (Penny) McCarthy. Kevin was predeceased by his son Jason K. McCarthy and by his parents, John and Louise McCarthy; sisters Patricia Baxley and Kathleen Sickler; and grandson Ryan McCarthy. In 2022, Kevin retired from his career, last working at the Orlando VA. A long-time attendee of Nativity Catholic Church, he was also an active volunteer with Toys for Tots charity. Kevin had a zest for life and enjoyed indulging in his favorite foods, including fish, homemade apple pie, sub sandwiches, and chicken wings. He loved sipping on St. Pauli Girl and Black Velvet, and found joy in listening to Irish songs by the Clancy Brothers, classic rock, and country music. Kevin was an avid fan of TV shows like NCIS, Andy Griffith Show, and old movies. He enjoyed films starring John Wayne and Clint Eastwood, as well as old Christmas movies. A proud supporter of the Buffalo Bills, Kevin found relaxation in recreational activities such as fishing and playing with his grandchildren. He cared deeply about causes such as Toys for Tots in memory of his son Jason. He was also a huge Harvick fan along with his grandson Cole and he is waiting until he gets old enough to get grandpa’s collection. Meghan would always hang out with “Grandpa Bird” because he could make the dove call. Meghan answered back with her version. She would always hold her arms out wide when she’d give him a hug. He also totally had such great memories with our youngest granddaughter Alina. He would say that she reminds him of Heather when she was that small… His warm and funny personality, combined with his emphasis on the importance of manners, left a profound impact on those who knew him. Among his greatest accomplishments were his military service, graduating from A/C school, and ultimately, his retirement. Kevin's legacy as a generous and loving man will live on through the love of his life, Donna, as well as the countless family members and friends who will dearly miss him.
