Ana Celia Velez

Ana Celia Rosado Velez February 16, 1930 – December 20, 2021 Ana Celia Rosado Velez gained her wings on December 20, 2021, in Orlando, Florida. She was surrounded by her husband, daughter, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and transitioned peacefully to be with the Lord. Ana Celia was born on February 16, 1930, in Añasco, Puerto Rico. She arrived in America in 1956 with her family and made Brooklyn, New York, her new home until she returned to her homeland in 1975. Her home in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico, was a peaceful place for family members to visit Grandma. In October 2017, Ana Celia and her husband packed two bags and left their home due to Hurricane Maria. She envisioned the day she would go back, but unfortunately, she could never return. Ana Celia lived in Orlando, Florida, with her daughter Elba Laboy, who cared for her. Ana Celia enjoyed Winters, especially snow days, loved to read the newspaper daily, and was a champion domino player. She played dominoes like she lived life, modest, understated, but confident in her abilities. Ana Celia had a strong work ethic and was proud of all the years she worked as a machine operator. When she retired, she spent her days gardening, nursing a mango tree that bore enough fruit every year for the entire town. While she never had a pet of her own, she nursed and fed all the pets on her block and ensured they were always safe. She loved her family deeply and experienced extraordinary joy in spending time with them. Ana Celia was preceded in death by her mother and father Maria de la Cruz Torres and Miguel Rosado; four of her children, Eddil Velez, Carlos Velez, Manuel Velez, and Carlos Lebron and her sisters, Juanita and Margerita Negron. She is survived by her husband, Gumersindo Lebron, daughter Elba Laboy (Luis Sanabria), son Luis Velez (Laura Hall), 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. The day before she passed, she was surrounded by her family, told them all she loved them, and spent the evening laughing, talking, and giving advice. Her family was privileged to enjoy one final perfect evening with her. The world was a better place because of her. She is missed. A funeral service will be held: January 18, 2022 from 9:30am – 11:30am at Baldwin Fairchild Alternatives At All Faiths 4901 S. Orange Ave., Orlando, Florida Followed by a mass service: 1:00pm – 2:00 pm Good Shepherd Catholic Church 5900 Oleander Dr., Orlando, Florida.
