Carl Edwin Thomas July 5, 1938 - February 15th, 2022 Carl E. Thomas, Oviedo, Florida passed away at the age of 83 on February 15th, 2022. Carl was born on July 5, 1938, in Pimlico, Maryland to the late Albert and Mildred (Seitz) Thomas, he was the oldest of two sons. He is survived by his loving wife Janet and her three sons; Jeff (Ingrid) Lathrop, Steve (Amber) Lathrop, and John (Rhonda) Kuhlman, his three sons; Greg (Norma), Gary, and Dustin (Monica), Sister-In-Law Loretta Thomas, Grandchildren; Sabrina (Markus) Abrikosow, Halie (Caleb) Bates, Taylor (Andrew) Bryan, Justin Thomas, Keegan Lathrop, Hayden Lathrop, Ryder Kuhlman, Great-Grandchildren; Oskar, Thorben, Aiden, Milo, Spencer, Jocelyn, Olivia and Lucy. Carl was preceded in death by his brother Don Thomas. After ten years of working in private industry, Carl started a Civil Service career in January 1966 as a Supervisory Electronics Technician for the NAVAIR Pacific Regional Office in Hawaii. In 1969 he changed employers and began working directly for the Naval Submarine Training Center Pacific. In 1988 he transferred to NAVAIR in Orlando, Florida as an Integrated Logistics Support Manager, and in July 1991 moved into a Program Management position. Throughout his career, Carl led diverse teams developing new innovative training initiatives and state-of-the art design training devices. For several years, he served as a co-chairman of the Submarine Combat Systems Training Group with a military O-6 counterpart. He interfaced directly with the Chief of Naval Operations (OP-29) on trainer issues, and was assigned as a software advisor to CNET, SUBLANT, and SUBPAC. Carl retired in 2005 after 40 years of government service. Carl was a loving and caring Father and Grandfather (Pap Paw). He lived life to the fullest. He wore his heart on his sleeve. Always had a smile on his face and a story or joke to share. He spent the remaining years of his life enjoying golf and traveling with his wife Janet throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. Services will be held on Saturday February 26th, 2022, at 9:30-10am (private for family), 10-11am at Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home, 501 E Mitchell Hammock Rd, Oviedo, Florida and at Glen Haven Memorial Park (Cemetery), 2300 Temple Dr. Winter Park, Florida.
