Lucinda Meekins McPherson Lucinda (Cindy) Meekins McPherson, 66, of Sorrento, FL, peacefully found her way to be with God on Wednesday, September 15th, 2021. She was comforted by family and friends at AdventHealth Waterman Hospital in Tavares, FL. Cindy was born in Indiana, PA on March 24th, 1955. She was the sixth daughter of Frank and Verda Meekins, and grew up in the small town of Diamondville, PA. It was there that Cindy enjoyed a simple life with her loved ones where the values of love, family, hard work, and faith in God were in abundance. Cindy was very fortunate to have had so many close friends in her life. She was described by many as being a loving and caring woman; a phenomenal, prolific woman in her own right; a mother hen. She was creative, talented, giving, kind and strong…so much stronger than she thought she was…she never gave herself credit for her light, which shone so brilliantly. Cindy shared her life, talents, knowledge and experiences with everyone, and was loved immensely by all who knew her. She loved arts and crafts, cooking, canning, baking, spending her weekends at garage sales, historical reenacting and spoiling her granddaughter. Perhaps the greatest joy in her life was being “Mammy”, and showering her only grandchild, Lily, with love, kisses, clothing, toys, treats, boots, and anything she thought Lily might enjoy. She loved her Christmas and Hallmark movies to no end, and at any given moment throughout the year, you would hear her singing her favorite song, “Let it Snow”. Cindy was an active participant within her church community and had a strong love and faith in God. Moreover, she was a good woman who lived life the way that she wanted to. She took every opportunity to laugh with friends, dote on her family, cook a good homecooked meal and give what she could to those who were in need. We will all miss her and our hearts ache terribly. Cindy, our joys will be greater…our love will be deeper…our lives will be fuller…because we shared your moment. Cindy is survived by her two children: Kristie Rae Demeter and Steven Aaron McPherson; her two sisters: Lula Patricia (Patty) McMasters and RuthAnn Phillippi; and one grandchild: Lilith Elyse (Lily) Demeter. Cindy was preceded in death by both of her parents, Franklin Clyde and Verda Roseanna Meekins, her husband Thomas Patrick McPherson (Tom), and her sisters Ethel Marie (Butch) Curry, Frances Verna (Francie) Reed and Darlene Rae Meekins. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 9th, at 3pm at First Baptist Church of Sorrento; 24125 FL-46 Sorrento, FL 32776, with Pastor Chris Hall, officiating. Interment at the Florida National Cemetery will be private.
